Przedsiębiorstwo Przeładunku Paliw Płynnych NAFTOPORT Sp. z o.o. (NAFTOPORT) is one of the largest crude terminals at the Baltic Sea.
NAFTOPORT constitutes an important element of the logistics of crude oil supplies, providing crude oil for PKN ORLEN and LOTOS Group as well as for TRM Leuna and PCK Schwedt in Germany. The enterprise also performs sea handling of petroleum products for LOTOS Group – the majority of petroleum products exports is performed via the NAFTOPORT’S terminal.
The crude oil handling terminal at the Port of Gdańsk (Handling Base for Liquid Fuels) is the only terminal for handling crude oil in Poland. NAFTOPORT is able to handle over 40 million tons of crude oil and 4 million tons of petroleum products per year, thus fully meeting the needs of the refineries connected to the system of “Przyjaźń” (Druzhba) pipelines.
The NAFTOPORT’s terminal consists of 4 universal handling jetties (it is possible to handle vessels at all these jetties simultaneously), where the largest oceanic tankers at the Baltic Sea are served, including VLCC ships with a length of 300 m. The 5th jetty, for petroleum products, is under construction. The jetties are equipped with modern loading arms as well as equipment for the reception of hydrocarbon vapors from ships.
Handling operations are performed on closed port basins, protected with permanent and pneumatic dams preventing spills. At the key has been equipped with devices for safe berthing and mooring. A computer controlled fire-fighting system equipped with CCTV and parallel monitoring, detection and information systems supported with fire-fighting vehicles and vessels ensuring fire protection.
Over 5.5 thousand tankers have been served and over 185 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products have been handled on the premises of the Handling Base for Liquid Fuels since NAFTOPORT started its operation (1992).
